Having trouble with TRAINS/web? Maybe these Frequently Asked Questions will help...

  • How do I register for training using TRAINS?
    • Use the link on the left side of this page called "Create New Profile".
    • Login to our system using your Georgia Tech login. If you have not registered for an Workplace Learning and Professional Developmet class since June of 1999, you don't need to try to login - just click the "New User" link to complete your user profile.
    • Once logged in you need to choose to use an existing PeopleSoft Project Number and profile or to enter a new PeopleSoft Project Number. Click "Continue".
    • Edit your profile as necessary. Click "Continue".
    • Choose the course sessions you wish to attend from the list and check the boxes. If a course session you wanted to attend is not on the list, the session is full and no further registrations will be taken. Click "Continue".
    • A confirmation screen will appear, allowing you to verify that you have selected the correct sessions. Click the "Back" button on your browser to change your selections. If the course sessions viewed are correct, you must check the box to verify that you have approval from your supervisor to attend and pay for the course. Click "Continue".
    • A final screen will appear verifying that you have been registered for the requested courses or showing any problems that occurred.

  • Why do I need to enter a PeopleSoft Project Number into TRAINS/web?
    • Workplace Learning and Professional Development uses the PeopleSoft Project Number you enter to process an internal chargeback to your department for the courses you attend. Your registration will not be processed until you have entered a valid PeopleSoft Project Number. You must, however, have your supervisor's approval to use a particular PeopleSoft Project Number EVERY TIME you register for courses. If you wish to pay for training out of your own pocket, enter a PeopleSoft Project number of all zeros (0000000) and bring your personal check with you to class. You will not be admitted unless you have your check.
